The basic principle of the unslotted SHR mechanical friction joints is the combination between a horizontal taper and a thread, realized between the slotted inner and the unslotted outer component of the bushing. By tightning screws in the nut, which is put on the inner component, the outer component is subjected to axial preasure and compelled to "climb" up the thread on the inner component. The slotted design of the inner component guarantees for radial expansion.
